The Amandla Center
"Amandla" is a South African Zulu word for "power"; and in 2003 the Amandla Center was established to celebrate and embrace cultural diversity at the University of Chicago. Since its conception, the space has evolved and now it is part of 5710 S. Woodlawn, the home of the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs, LGBTQ Programming Office and Amandla Lounge.
Location & Hours
The Amandla Lounge is located on the third floor of 5710 S. Woodlawn, which is open Monday - Friday from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. The lounge is furnished with tables, comfortable chairs with seating up to 29 people and soon it will also have cable television.
The Amandla Media and Resource Library
The ever growing library of resources was available in Amandla is now located on the first floor of 5710 S. Woodlawn. Visit the links below to view a list of books, DVDs and magazines.

Room Reservations for RSOs
If you are interested in reserving the Amandla Student Resource Center for your RSO event, you can submit a space request form. Please allow 48 to 72 hours for room reservation confirmation from a 5710 staff person.
